Apple Announces New iPad Pro, iPad Air Models

Apple has unveiled redesigned iPad Pro and iPad Air models, which confirms months of speculation and marks the first updates to its iPad series in years.

In a video released Tuesday morning, Apple said its iPad Pro, which is the company’s most expensive model, will come in two sizes, an 11-inch model and a 13-inch model. It will also use a new Apple chip, the M4, which the company says is an “outrageously powerful chip for AI.” The iPad Pro tablets will feature a new kind of display called “OLED,” which is already featured in iPhones, and allows for brighter screens and better colors than previous models.

Meanwhile, the iPad Air comes at a more affordable price and, for the first time, will come in two sizes: An 11-inch size and a larger 13-inch model, both equipped with Apple’s older M2 chip.

“There is no other device like it. iPad is powerful, portable, and incredibly versatile. In classrooms around the world, iPad is helping students and teachers bring their lessons and learning to life,” Cook said during the announcement.

  • The smaller iPad Air costs $599 for 128GB of storage, and the larger iPad starts at $799. The iPad Air will be available in stores next week.
  • The iPad Pro is expected to cost $999 for the 11-inch model and $1,299 for the 13-inch model. It will be available in stores next week.

These are the first iPad models Apple has released since October 2022, the longest time that Apple has gone without updating the product line since its launch in 2011, according to CNBC.
